InfotechE
launched a social policy at the beginning of 2001 and focused
strongly during the rest of the year on preparations to implement
the policy and raise social performance to the same high level
reached with our environmental performance.
Business ethics and occupational health and safety are integral
parts of the policy and are promoted through special procedures
and guidelines, reinforcing a ¡°zero tolerance¡± approach for
unethical behavior and a ¡°zero target¡± for serious and fatal
accidents. --To
road test the social policy and to consider how to implement
it and measure performance, InfotechE launched its most ambitious
program yet of stakeholder dialogue ¨C conducting roundtable
multi-stakeholder discussions in 34 countries. Feedback from
these dialogues will be used to improve the policy and develop
implementation guidelines and performance measurement indicators.
--Another
important vehicle for developing stakeholder relationships
is through InfotechE¡¯s Sustainability Advisory Board, which
is being reconstituted to include new members with an expanded
range of skills and experience in the environmental, social
and economic fields.
