In
2000, INFOTECH ESSENTIALS adopted the 16 principles of the ICC¡¯s
Business Charter for Sustainable Development as its environmental
policy and has worked hard over the last decade in raising its
environmental performance to a high level.
The international environmental standard ISO 14001 has been
implemented in 98% of InfoTechE¡¯s manufacturing and workshop
sites. In
line with the ISO standard¡¯s concept of continuous improvement,
we are making continuous efforts to improve our environmental
performance. This we achieve, not so much through big projects,
but rather through a thousand smaller, individual improvement
projects, which together have a huge effect on InfoTechE¡¯s
overall performance.
To
foster initiatives which lead to significant improvements
in performance, we have introduced an Environmental Management
Awards scheme to get all employees involved in environmental
matters. In 2001, seven winners equally shared the prize money
of US$ 30,000.
To
provide customers with the information they need to choose
more sustainable solutions to their needs, InfoTechE has pioneered
the Cleaner Production Declarations for its core products.
These describe and quantify the environmental performance
of a product over its complete life cycle.
These
declarations are also used by InfoTechE¡¯s designers to improve
the eco-efficiency of our products, enhancing their direct
and indirect contribution to lower environmental impacts.
InfoTechE
applies the same principles to its main suppliers as it does
to itself. We favor suppliers who are certified to ISO 14001
or its equivalent, and we evaluate and select major suppliers
on their ability to meet the requirements of InfoTechE¡¯s
social policy.
